Meeting psychiatric rehabilitation needs

Compass Health Services offers a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) for Children & Adolescents to promote a healthier lifestyle through effective social skills, coping skills, self-management skills, and behavioral strategies. We also aim to promote workforce development, communication skills, time management, and healthy relationship skills.

Children need to have access to a safe environment where they can grow healthy and learn from their parents and family. Depriving a child of their needs be it through poverty-stricken conditions or abuse can negatively impact their growth and development.

Adolescents have emotional support needs that are constantly changing with the hormones in their body, emotional outbursts, isolation, aggressiveness that are apparent with this age group, and if they don’t have a strong support system to help them cope with the changes in their body and their emotions, it can put them at risk of depression and other mental health illnesses.

Child Self-Care Development
Child self-care can help teach young children to become independent by allowing and encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves whenever possible. Children can learn so much from doing things for themselves. When children practice self-help skills such as feeding and dressing themselves, they practice their large and small motor skills, gain confidence in their ability, and build their self-esteem.
Child Social Skills Development
Socially useful skills will allow children to be successful in the social world. Social skills are important for kids to interact and communicate with others. Several different social skills are indicative of child development. These include sharing, cooperating, following directions, exercising good manners, and understanding personal space.
Educational Necessities
People with mental illness and other psychiatric concerns sometimes need help in different aspects of their lives, including education. If they don’t have a strong support system it can negatively impact their growth and development. We serve supported education programs for students with psychiatric illnesses in pursuing higher education where they can grow healthy and learn
